Obituary

WILLIAM L. TRAVIS Mr. Bill Travis of Beutel Road in Port Washington passed away at his residence surrounded by his family early Monday morning October 20 2008.nbsp; He was 77 years old.nbsp; Bill was born on January 16 1931 in Milwaukee son of Harry and Gladys Smith Travis.nbsp; After his schooling Bill joined the US Army where he became bugler for the 101st Airborne while stationed at Camp Breckenridge in Kentucky.nbsp; He was united in marriage with Beverly Berg on April 14 1956 at Church of the Open Door in Milwaukee.nbsp; The couple moved to the Port Washington area in the early 1960rsquo;s.nbsp; Mr. Travis was a 36 year employee of ATamp;T (formerly Wisconsin Bell) where he retired as a Project Manager.nbsp; Bill was the first alderman of the 7th Ward in Port Washington and a former member of the Port Washington Lions Club.nbsp; He and his family spent much time on Butternut Lake in the Three Lakes area where he was a past president of the Butternut Franklin Lake Association. He and Beverly have spent winters for the last few years at Midlakes Resort in Tavares FL.nbsp; He enjoyed spending time fishing with his children and grandchildren and became an avid boater navigating the canals of Florida the inland waters Butternut Lake and Lake Michigan. A big fan of the Packers he attended the Ice Bowl and remained a fan through good seasons and bad.nbsp; Bill also liked bowling with his friends at Bleyrsquo;s.nbsp; Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday and he enjoyed spending it with his family. He was proud of his family and they were proud of him.nbsp; He was a good friend especially to his sons-in-law.nbsp; He is survived by the love of his life Beverly their five children: Christine Travis of Pewaukee Julianne (Gary) Winkelhorst of Port Washington Vickie (Glenn) Krueger of Fond du Lac Laurie (Paul) Vetter also of Port Washington and William (Tina) Travis of Brooklyn NY.nbsp; He is further survived by eight grandchildren: Evan Frank Jessica Christopher and Lisa Simonson Willie Michelle and Alysha Vetter and Onallee Travis other relatives and many friends.nbsp; Private services will be held later this week.nbsp; br /Service:br /pspan style=font-size: 12pt; font-family: times;Private services will be held./span/p
