Obituary

William Hallada of Greenfield formerly of Port Washington passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday August 21 2013. He was 96 years old. Bill was born in Burnett WI on July 12 1917 son of Charles Hallada and Amelia Schwartz Hallada. Bill grew up in the Milwaukee area attending the Wisconsin School for the Deaf where he met the love of his life Caryl Tillotson. The couple later married in Antioch IL on September 27 1947. The couple settled in Port Washington where they lived for 70 years. Bill worked as a laborer at the Wisconsin Chair Factory in Port Washington before moving on to become a machinist at PCM Koehring Co which later became Trak International. He retired from Trak in 1981 after 39 years. Bill was very involved in Port Washington city league athletics such as bowling horse shoes fast pitch softball and especially basketball where he won the championship in 1940. Bill always said I made many hearing friends through playing sports. Bill was inducted into the Wisconsin School for the Deaf Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000. He was also a very active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church for the Deaf in West Allis for many many years. He enjoyed traveling being able to see all 50 states and Canada carpentry a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan and was also the best storyteller you ever met. He loved his Old Fashioneds strong and his steak well done. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Caryl of Greenfield three children; Vaughn (Carol) Hallada of Port Washington Harriet (Tom) May of Madison and Nancy Helen Hallada of Madison. He is further survived by seven grandchildren; Daryl (Nichole) Hallada of West Lafayette IN Valerie (James) Rigg and Candice (Brett) Bigley both of San Diego CA Alicia May of Chicago Elliott (Kelly Reardon) May of Denver CO Vanessa Butler of Hartford CT and Rachelle Butler of Madison WI five great-grandchildren; Kaeley Dylan Sammy and Payton Hallada and Natalie Lynn Rigg other relatives and many friends. Visitation will take place on Monday August 26th from 3-5 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1167 Washington Ave. Cedarburg with funeral services to follow at 5 PM with Pastor William Bud Palmer officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the Wisconsin School for the Deaf Sports Hall of Fame fund. The Eernisse Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
