Obituary

WILLIAM C. BREY Mr. Bill Brey of North Wilson Street in Fredonia passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening October 17th at Columbia-St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon. He was 79 years old. Bill was born in Milladore WI on May 7 1928 son of William P. and Laurinda Marcoux Brey. He served in Germany during the Korean War leaving the service as a Staff Sergeant. On November 28 1959 he was united in marriage with Bernadine Liebe at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Junction City WI. They settled in Milwaukee and later moved to Fredonia in 1967. Bill completed his Masters Degree in Entomology from South Dakota State University in 1969. Mr. Brey worked at Brown Deer High School as a Science and Biology teacher for 35 years retiring in 1994. He was a member of Holy Rosary Parish St. Rose Chapel in Fredonia and was an active member of the Fredonia Lions Club and VFW Post 5373. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting fishing camping gardening and traveling. Bill enjoyed sports from the time he was young. He played baseball bowled and swam. He later became a Little League coach a Boy Scout leader and a CCD teacher. His sense of humor jokes and stories will be greatly missed. His 13 grandchildren were a very important part of his life and he delighted in teaching them to appreciate insects and the outdoors. Bill combined his love of reading and history with his passion for the Civil War. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Bernadine and their six children: Mary (Anthony) Schneider of Fredonia Christopher Brey of New Brunswick NJ Patricia (Timothy) Gump of Appleton Edward Brey of West Bend Michael (Julie) Brey of Cedar Grove and Kim (Chad) Lunsmann of St. Charles IL. He is further survived by his 13 grandchildren: Maria Josephine Anthony Veronica Laurinda Olivia Zachary Kaitlyn Connor Madeline Natalie Jonathon and David his brother Robert (Carol) Brey of Wisconsin Rapids brother-in-law Gene Marzofka also of Wisconsin Rapids nieces nephews other relatives many former students and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister Norberta Marzofka. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Sunday October 21 leaving at 7PM from the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. Port Washington going to Holy Rosary Parish St. Rose Chapel Fredonia for Mass at 7:30 PM. Father Richard Fleishmann and Father Jim Ernster will concelebrate. Interment will take place the next day at the parish cemetery.
