Obituary

Mr. Wayne Mortimer of Fredonia, formerly of Chicago and Pennsylvania, passed away early Sunday morning, January 20, 2019, at Belgium Gardens where he had been a resident for the last year. He was 72 years old. Wayne was born in Sandy Hollow, PA on September 20, 1946, son of Guy and Betty Eddinger Mortimer. He attended local schools before enlisting in the US Navy, where he served as an electronics mechanic. On July 20, 1968 Wayne was united in marriage with Carol Brennan at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Chicago. The couple lived in Chicago before moving to Cedarburg in 1989, and later to Fredonia in 2003. Mr. Mortimer was employed as an electronics technician at Quad Graphics for 16 years, retiring in 2010. He had previously worked at Milwaukee Electronics for a number of years. Wayne was a member of the Newburg Chapter of Vietnam Veterans and Warren Kane American Legion Post 410 in Fredonia. He was an avid reader and enjoyed word puzzles, computers and driving his Honda Goldwing motorcycle. In his spare time, Wayne liked watching documentaries, How It's Made and Bob Ross on TV. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol, and their daughter Jenesta Mortimer, both of Fredonia. He was the beloved Granddad of Olivia Herman. Wayne is also survived by sisters Marcia (Don) Farnham and Janice Mortimer-Smith, both of Florida, aunt Sue McCoy of Ohio and special cousin John Johnson. Further survivors include nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Shirley, sister-in-law Linda Angle and his beloved parents-in-law Raymond & Gloria Brennan. A Memorial Service will be held at 6PM on Friday, February 1st at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave, Port Washington. Rev. Linda Westphal-Buth will preside. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Friday from 3-6PM. Military Honors will precede the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested.
