Obituary

Mr. Wayne Horman of Port Washington passed away Friday December 21 2012 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 88 years old. Wayne was born September 1 1924 in La Crescent MN the son of George and Calverna Schmaltz Horman. After high school he proudly served his country for 24 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a Master Sgt.. On August 26 1951 he was united in marriage with Hope Nancy Hollander in Belleville NJ. The couple moved to Port Washington in 1963 and raised their children. Wayne worked as a US Postal Carrier in Port Washington retiring in 1992 after 28 years on the job. Nancy preceded him in death in 2010. Mr. Horman was a member of the American Legion VFW Air Force Sergeants Association The Forty and Eight and was one of the founders the Disabled Veterans Fish Outing serving as Treasurer of the organization for 37 years. He was also one of the veterans to get the privilege of taking the first Stars Stripes Honors Flight in Ozaukee County. Survivors include his three children: Louise Laabs of Madison Judy (Steve) Klumb of Port Washington and Wayne (Tiffani) Horman of Madison eight grandchildren: Courtney (Tyler) Wernsing Carrie (Eric) Kolva Jennifer (Ryan) Kienbaum Julianne (Brian Dobrzynski) Klumb Joshua Benjamin Carter and Rees Horman his five great-grandchildren Logan Cody and Brady Kienbaum and Peyton Cash Kolva. He is further survived by his siblings Robert (Lenore) Horman of La Crosse Douglas (Pearl) Horman of Galva IL Carol (Al) Schulze of La Crosse Barbara ( the late Gene) Walker of Colliersville TN Mike (Barbara) Horman of Maynard MA and Marvin (Frances) Horman Gerald (Marcie) Horman Erving (Raye) Horman Howard (Rose) Horman and Neale (Sheryl) Horman all of Onalaska and Judy (Carl) Munson of West Salem WI. He is preceded in death by his wife and one brother Kenneth Horman. Funeral services will be held at 3PM on Saturday January 5th at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. Port Washington. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Onalaska Cemetery in Onalaska at 1 PM on Sunday January 6th with Rev. Scott Skogen officiating. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 12 noon-3PM. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight or Disabled Veterans Fish Outing are appreciated.
