Walter Dowe of Cedarburg passed away surrounded by his loving family in the evening hours of Thursday April 9 2015 at Vitas Hospice Center in Wauwatosa. He was 84 years old. Walter was born in Milwaukee on April 26 1930 son of Walter H. Dowe and Karla Simonsen Dowe. Walter grew up in the Mequon area. He graduated from Cedarburg High School with the class of 1948. After high school he served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Navy. On June 23 1954 he married Mary Johannes in Port Washington. Walter worked as a power plant engineer for many area manufacturers and also enjoyed helping out at his wife's floral shop at Stonecroft. He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg the Cedarburg American Legion Post 288 and was a car enthusiast. Walter is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary of Cedarburg four children: Gary (Valerie) Dowe of Grafton Suzanne (the late James) Champion of West Allis Kristoffer (Cindy) Dowe of Plymouth and Mary (Inayat) Keval of Cedarburg. He is further survived by five grandchildren three great-grandchildren nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday April 18 at 11AM at St. Francis Borgia North 1375 Covered Bridge Road Cedarburg. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10AM until the time of service. Father Guy Gurath will preside. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the Cedarburg American Legion Post 288. The Eernisse Funeral Home Cedarburg is honored to serve the family.
