Obituary

Walter I. Tebbit Jr. Mr. Walter Tebbit of Port Washington formerly of Yorkville IL passed away early Monday morning December 19 2005 at Harbor Cove in Port Washington. He was 81 years old. Walter was born in Aurora IL on July 18 1924 son of Walter I. and Marguarite Brown Tebbit. Walter joined the Air Force and served in World War II and Korea. On February 14 1947 he was united in marriage with Mary Stilwell at Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora IL. The couple settled in Aurora and then moved to Yorkville in 1972. Walter worked for Northern Illinois Gas Company retiring as a supervisor in 1980 after 30 years of service. He and his wife moved to Port Washington WI in 2003. Mr. Tebbit was a former member of the Millbrook United Methodist Church a current member of Grand Ave. United Methodist Church in Port Washington VFW Post 7452 in Montgomery IL the American Legion Van Ellis-Schanen Post 82 in Port Washington he was a Life Member FAM Lodge 245 in Aurora IL and belonged to the 19th Bombardment Association. Walter was a card carrying Die-hard Cubs Fan and belonged to the Thursday morning Veterans Breakfast Group in Aurora IL. He is survived by his loving wife Mary of Port Washington 1 son Dr. Guy (Jean) Tebbit of Greensboro NC 1 daughter Sandy (Mark) Grams of Port Washington 4 grandchildren: Dr. Christopher (Katie) Tebbit of Durham NC Sarah Tebbit of Greensboro NC Melissa Grams of Port Washington WI and Matthew Grams of North Hudson WI. He is further survived by 1 great-grandson Charles Smith Tebbit of Durham 2 sisters: Norma Vaughan of Aurora IL and Gloria Albertson of St. Charles IL nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by 1 sister Marion Okapal. A brief service will be held at Riverside Cemetery 1120 S. Broadway Montgomery IL Thursday December 22nd at 1PM. Veterans Rites will follow. The family suggests memorials to VITAS Hospice 2675 N. Mayfair Rd Wauwatosa WI 53226 or the Lewy Body Dementia Association PO Box 11390 Tempe AZ 85284.
