Walter William Raebel, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2020, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon.
Walt was born on March 30, 1928, in Milwaukee WI to William and Emma (Mathiak) Raebel. He married the love of his life, Lynn LeGrand, on October 3, 1964. Walt is survived by his loving wife Lynn; his children Ramona (Jim) Kampa, Brennan (Karen vanWinkel), Paul (Lisa), Matthew (Dawn Rochwite), Kate (Brad) Lauterbach, John (Trista); grandchildren Tim, Andy (Hanna), Jordan (Nicole), Zach, Luke, Amanda, Alec, Erin, Cody and Cassie; great-granddaughters Scarlett and Abigail.
Walt was a longtime member and officer of Peter Wollner Post 288 in Cedarburg WI. He loved soccer and coached for the Bavarian Soccer Club for many years. A special moment in Walt's life was when he received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Concordia University in December of 2018.
Visitation for Walt will be Friday, January 31, at Eernisse Funeral Home (1167 Washington Ave. Cedarburg, WI 53074) from 4:00-5:45 p.m. An American Legion walk-through will be held at 5:50 p.m. The Funeral Service for Walt will begin at 6:00pm with Fr. Guy Gurath presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to plant a tree in Walt's honor. Memorials to Peter Wollner Post 288 or the Stars and Stripes Honors Flight are appreciated. Walt's family extends a special thank you to the caring staff at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon.
