Obituary

Virginia A. Riewesthal (nee Hoffmann) of Cedarburg passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, July 21, 2017. She was 96. Virginia was born to Walter L. and Agatha (nee Bay) Hoffmann in Cedarburg on January 19, 1921. She married the late Arnold Riewesthal on February 5, 1944 at St. Peter's Church in Saukville. Virginia married Arnold when he was in the U.S. Airforce stationed in Oklahoma City before moving back home to Wisconsin. After Virginia's husband was killed in a tragic car accident she was devoted to raising her two and five-year-old daughters on her own. Virginia will always be remembered as loving, hardworking, selfless person, always putting others first. She had several jobs as a single mother. She worked at her family owned business, Hoffmann's Meat Market in Cedarburg. Virginia "Sam" also worked for Moats, Bailey & Moats Veterinary Clinic in Cedarburg. She was a dispatcher for the Cedarburg Police Department and worked at Power Products in Grafton. Virginia was a devoted daughter, caring for her father for 20 years. She was an excellent cook and baker. Virginia crocheted blankets for her family, enjoyed playing cards and bowling at The Cedars. She was a proud 70 year member of the Cedarburg American Legion Auxiliary Post 288 and belonged to the Advent Lutheran Church Parish in Cedarburg. Virginia will be loved and missed by those who knew her. Virginia is survived by her daughters, Mary Lewandowski and Susan (Daniel) Keller; grandchildren: Amy (Noah) Lichtenstein, Matthew (Nina Disalvo) Lewandowski, Nikki Karrels, Nerissa (Dennis) Heusdens, and Jesse (Stacie) Keller; 8 great-grandchildren. Virginia is further survived by her sister Dorothy Lewis; special cousin Laurice Bell; special friends Katie Oberst and Martha Sterling; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold and her brother J. Wallace "Porky" Hoffmann. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00PM on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Eernisse Funeral Home (1167 Washington Ave. Cedarburg, WI 53012) with Pastor Kinens presiding. Visitation will be at the FUNERAL HOME from 11:00AM until the time of service. Interment will be at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Advent Lutheran Church (W63N642 Washington Ave., Cedarburg, WI 53012), Ozaukee County Humane Society (630 W. Dekora Street, Saukville, WI 53080), and to the Cedarburg Fire Department, Rescue Squad, and Police Department.
