VIRGINIA A. SCHMIDT Ginny Mrs. Virginia Schmidt of Bayhill Road in Port Washington passed away at Luther Manor River Oaks in Mequon Friday morning January 17 2014. She was 85 years old. Virginia was born in Milwaukee daughter of Raymond and Esther Oppermann Nauertz. She attended local schools and graduated from North Division High School in 1946. On October 14 1950 Virginia was united in marriage with Frederick Fritz Schmidt of Milwaukee. The couple settled on the north side and raised their family. Mrs. Schmidt worked as a beautician at Beauty Haven in Wauwatosa. In 1979 Fritz and Ginny moved to their newly built home in the Town of Trenton before moving to Port Washington in 2007. He preceded her in death on September 28 2013. Mrs. Schmidt enjoyed bowling going to the family cottage in Eagle River and the occasional casino junket. Ginny also liked spending time with her granddaughters traveling out to San Diego to see them whenever she got the chance. She is survived by her three children: Bruce (Jacqueline) Schmidt of San Diego CA Jan (Chuck) Hammel and Terri Schmidt both of Port Washington. She is further survived by three granddaughters: Nina (fiance Gavin McCorkle) Schmidt Kendall and Stephanie Schmidt all of San Diego CA nieces nephews other relatives and friends. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Fred their son Rick and 1 brother Allen Nauertz. At her request private family services will be held. The Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials are suggested in her name to Seasons Hospice or to the Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Luther Manor River Oaks and Seasons Hospice for their extraordinary care of Ginny over the last year.
