VIRGIL A. GANTNER
Mr. Virgil Gantner of Fredonia passed away early Thursday morning, November 5, 2015. He grew up in Holy Cross and attended local schools, graduating from Random Lake High School in 1955. Virgil proudly served his country in the US Navy. On June 10, 1961 he married Shirley Foster, daughter of Melvin & Helen Foster, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Fredonia. The couple settled in the Town of Fredonia and started their family. Mr. Gantner worked with his father-in-law at Foster Construction, and later for himself. He was a member of Divine Savior Parish, the Holy Name Society, and Riveredge Nature Center. Virgil enjoyed bird-watching, photography, watching college football (especially the Wisconsin Badgers) and fishing. He is survived by his wife Shirley, their daughter Kim (Nick Busch) Gantner of Longview, WA and grandchildren Shana & Cole Busch, also of Longview, WA. He is further survived by twin brother Vernon Gantner of Random Lake, brother-in-law Tom (the late Dorothy) Foster of Fredonia, sisters-in-law Valerie Gantner, also of Random Lake and Diane (David) Peiffer of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his son Mark, parents Leo & Genevieve Wellenstein Gantner, brothers Kenneth, Ambrose (the late Jeanette) and Donald Gantner. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 3:30PM at Divine Savior -Holy Cross Chapel, 5332 Hwy B, Town of Belgium. Father Todd Budde will preside. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Wednesday from 2-3:30 PM. Memorials are suggested to Riveredge Nature Center or the Northern Ozaukee Scholarship Fund.
