VIRGEL A. LEONARD Mrs. Virgel Leonard of Pennsylania Ave. in Sheboygan passed away early Saturday June 14 2008 at St. Nicholas Hospital. She was 82 years old. Virgel was born April 3 1926 in Port Washington to Elmer and Antonia Walus Ewig. On September 25 1948 she was united in marriage to Paul C. Leonard Sr. in Kodiak Alaska. The couple moved to Illinois where they began their family. Virgel was a dedicated wife and mother who took great joy in raising her children and helping raise many of her grandchildren. Paul preceded her in death in 2007. Mrs. Leonard had previously been a member of St. Maryrsquo;s Catholic Church in Port Washington. She enjoyed gardening writing taking photos and being a mother grandmother and great-grandmother. Virgel is survived by her 5 children: Paul (Evelyn) Leonard Jr. of Sheboygan Michelle (Ken) Herman of South Elgin IL Eugene (Rhonda) Leonard of Libertyville IL Joe (Dora) Leonard of Hoffman Estates IL and John (Robin) Leonard of Fort Myers FL 15 grandchildren 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren on the way. She is further survived by two brothers: Eugene Ewig of Port Washington and Franklin (Corinne) Ewig of FL four sisters: Donna (Dick) Suscha of Sheboygan Dorothy Hoell of Oostburg Betty (Russ) Anderson of Menomonee Falls and Shirley Hickman of Sheboygan one sister-in-law Carol Ewig of Grafton two brothers-in-law: John Leonard of PA and Edward (Eleanore) Leonard of IL nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents Virgel was preceded in death by two children: Robert and Susan Leonard two grandchildren: Jeremiah and ChristyAnne three great-grandchildren: George Antonia and Lucille and one brother Elmer Ewig. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Maryrsquo;s Catholic Church 430 N. Johnson St. Port Washington on Wednesday June 18 2008 at 11:30AM. Father Tom Lijewski will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday June 17 at Eernisse Funeral Home 171 N. Royal Ave. Belgium from 4-7PM and on Wednesday June 18th at St. Maryrsquo;s Catholic Church from 10:00 till the time of services. Virgel will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Maryrsquo;s Cemetery in Port Washington. The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
