Vincent "Vince" Birenbaum, 95, went home to his Lord on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Vince was a lifelong resident of the Town of Holland until 2014 when he became a resident at Gables on the Pond in Random Lake. Vince was born in the Town of Holland on the family farmstead on June 23, 1921, the son of John and Susan (Feyeresen) Birenbaum. He attended Fairview Grade School in the Town of Holland and St. Nicholas Grade School in Dacada. Vince worked on the family farm and also at Rice Pump in Belgium and the Midland Co-op in Fredonia. He then worked at Gilson Brothers in Fredonia until retiring in 1982. Vince was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, a member of the adult choir at St. Nicholas Chapel from 1969 until 2002 and also a member of the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search, jigsaw puzzles and a good game of sheepshead. He was also known for singing his rendition of "The Laughing Polka". He is survived by one sister-in-law, Shirley Birenbaum, and many, many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joseph (the late Beatrice), Clem (the late Patricia), Ray (the late Claire), Eugene (the late Alice), Richard (Shirley) and sister Marie (the late Alvin) Wollner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 18th, at Our Lady of the Lakes – St. Nicholas Chapel, Dacada (W4274 County Road K, Random Lake). Father Todd Budde will preside. Vince will be laid to rest in the St. Nicholas Cemetery following the Mass. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Saturday from 10-11AM. Memorials to Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church are suggested in lieu of flowers. The Eernisse Funeral Home in Belgium is assisting the family with arrangements.
