URSULA C. HENKE Mrs. Ursula Henke of Prospect Street in Port Washington passed away at Lawlis Family Hospice Center in Mequon early Saturday morning August 8 2015. She was 88 years old. Ursula was born in Berlin Germany on December 17 1926 daughter of Fritz and Friedel Merthen Schindler. She grew up in Germany and attended local schools. On September 2 1948 she was united in marriage with Eugene Henke in Germany. The couple came to New York and later to Wisconsin near the Town of Edgar in Marathon County before Eugene took a position in Milwaukee. The couple settled in Milwaukee and started their family. In 1991 Ursula and Eugene moved to LaCrosse and became innkeepers; the Country Manor Bed Breakfast became their pride and joy. Ursula was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain and take care of people. She took pleasure in setting a pretty table filling it with wonderful things she had made and decorating with flowers from her garden. In 2000 the couple moved to Port Washington. Mrs. Henke was a member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. She enjoyed animals (especially horses and dogs) and was an avid historian. Ursula is survived by her loving husband of almost 69 years Eugene of Port Washington and their three children: Gloria Henke of Cedarburg Gene (Pamela) Henke of Murfreesboro TN and Christel (Jim Moy) Henke of Shorewood. She is further survived by four grandchildren: Rachel (Tony) Tompkins Jessica (Mitchell) Wilkerson Kristin (Brian) Meyers and Nori Moy two great-grandchildren: Beckett Wilkerson and Skylar Tompkins other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Gerhard Schindler. Funeral Services will be held at 4PM on Friday August 14th at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1167 Washington Ave. Cedarburg. Rev. Randy Raasch will preside. Ursula will be laid to rest at Holden East Cemetery in Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home in Cedarburg on Friday from 3-4PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project.
