Obituary

Thomas Schuknecht of Saukville died Friday morning, November 4, 2022, at the Lawlis Family Hospice in Ascension Columbia-St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 67 years old.

Tom was born August 28, 1955, in Port Washington to Dr. Robert and Kathleen (nee Pierron) Schuknecht. Known to childhood friends as "Doc", Tom graduated from Port Washington High School in 1973 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1979. Tom worked as a pharmacist at Walgreens for over 37 years before he retired at age 60. Even after retirement, he remained a member of the American Pharmacists Association.

Tom was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Saukville (presently St. John XXIII Parish). He served in the St. John XXIII Men's Society. Tom was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who loved to walk and spend time in nature. Upon retiring, Tom devoted himself to volunteer service. He delivered Meals on Wheels throughout Ozaukee County, assisted the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and helped protect the local environment and its natural habitat by volunteering at the Riveredge Nature Center in Saukville, where he made many new friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew Mark Matthew Schuknecht. He is survived by his brother Mark Schuknecht, sister-in-law Susan, and nephews Mattison, Zachary, and Luke, all of Pompano Beach, FL. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Friday, November 18th at St. John XXIII – Immaculate Conception Church, 145 W. Church St. in Saukville, with Father Patrick Wendt presiding. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10-11AM. Tom will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington beside his parents and grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly suggests memorials or donations in remembrance of Tom to the Riveredge Nature Center that he loved so much: https://www.riveredgenaturecenter.org/.

The Eernisse Funeral Home of Port Washington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
