Obituary

Mr. Thomas Paine of Johnson Creek passed away in a tragic traffic accident on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. He was 71 years old.

Thomas was born in New Orleans, LA on January 16, 1954, the son of Gordon and Loraine (Theoharis) Paine. When Tom was a young boy, the family moved to Wisconsin, where his parents were originally from, and settled in Lake Mills. Tom graduated from Lake Mills High School, Class of 1971. He worked alongside his father in the family business, Tree-Ripe Fruit Co., and eventually took over all operations. Even after his official retirement, he still came in and worked in whatever role was needed that day.

On October 6, 1973, Thomas was united in marriage with Kathryn Ormord in Madison. The couple lived in Madison until 1977 and later moved their family of three boys to Fort Atkinson. They moved to their current residence in Johnson Creek in 1983.

Tom was a huge history buff; he loved nothing better than looking at maps and studying genealogy. He loved learning… about anything! Tom and Kathy enjoyed numerous trips to National and State Parks, and he was always up for a long road trip, or just a casual drive down the lane with Kathy at his side. Tom was an active member of the Fort Atkinson Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Those left to cherish Tom's memory include his wife Kathy, their sons Theodore (Tracy) Paine of Kelso, WA, Tiernan (Nataly) Paine of Wauwatosa, and Trevor Paine of Madison, and his grandchildren Alex, Alora, Dominick, Maxwell, and Olive. He is further survived by his sister Esther (Conrad) Ingbretson, niece Harmony, grand-niece Ava, other family, customers, and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Loraine, and brother Timothy Paine.

The family will receive guests at 5PM on Friday, December 12th, at the Fort Atkinson Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (W6185 Hackbarth Road, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538). A Memorial Service will follow at 6PM. In lieu of flowers or memorials, cards to the family are suggested
