Obituary

Mr. Ted Salkowski, 90, of Grafton passed away early Tuesday morning, March 12, 2024, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon.

Ted is the son of Theodore and Ella (nee Huber) Salkowski, born in Kewaunee on May 5, 1933. He attended local schools, graduating from Kewaunee High School, Class of 1951, before proudly serving in the US Army during the Korean War as a Combat Construction Specialist. He later completed his engineering degree at Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Ted was united in marriage with Kathryn Paral on June 1, 1957. When he proposed, he hoped they would be together for 75 years; they celebrated their 66th anniversary last year.

Ted had been employed at Hamilton Mfg. Co. in Two Rivers, WI; Barber Colman in Rockford, IL; C.J. Schlise in Green Bay, WI; Wisconsin Public Service in Green Bay, WI; Singer Controls in Milwaukee, WI; Bergin Heating and Air Conditioning in Mequon, WI; and most recently as a Research & Design Engineer at Stoelting, Inc, in Kiel, WI. He retired in 1998.

Ted was a quiet, humble man devoted to God, his wife, family and community. His family meant everything to him. He was a faithful servant, being a teacher of all things on earth and now in heaven. He believed in Divine Mercy and encouraged us all to pray and believe.

Ted was a faithful member of St. Joseph Parish in Grafton. He shared his many gifts with the parish including, but not limited to: usher, electrical work, constructing and installing missalette holders for pews, electrical work and grilling food for festivals, minister to sick, and acolyte. Ted and Kathy volunteered at Family Sharing and Lasata Care Center for many years. Together they were always willing to help anyone in need. He was also a member of Rose Harms American Legion Post 355 in Grafton.

Survivors include his wife Kathy of Grafton, their son David (Nancy) Salkowski of Cedarburg, and their daughters Lynn (Bruce) Robers of Burlington, Lori (Bruce) Effenheim of Maquoketa, IA, Lonie Salkowski of Madison, and Lea (Mike) Blatnik of Rochester. Ted is also survived by nine grandchildren: Erin (Dan), Ryan (Ashley), Nicholas (Meghann), Jason (Darcie), David (Carly), Natalie (Dan), Jacob (Monica), Alex (fiancé Emily) and Anita (Adam), 11 great-grandchildren, sister Carol (Elmer) Sevcik of Green Bay, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy (the late Lester) Kocourek, his mother-and father-in-law, brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph Parish with Father Nick Baumgardner. Ted was laid to rest at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery with Military Honors.

If desired, memorials in Ted's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (Memphis, TN), Ronald McDonald House Charities (Milwaukee, WI), or Children's Wisconsin Hospital (Milwaukee, WI)
