IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sylvia
Laack
November 22, 1927 – November 12, 2024
Mrs. Sylvia Laack of Cedarburg passed away Tuesday evening, November 12, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. She was just ten days short of her 97th birthday.
Sylvia was born at the family home in Cedarburg on November 22, 1927, daughter of Lester and Hilda (nee Mueller) Paegelow. The family were members at Trinity Lutheran Church, where Sylvia was baptized and confirmed. She graduated from Cedarburg High School and was a Golden Bulldog.
On July 3, 1948, Sylvia was united in marriage with Jack S. Laack at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. The couple settled in town and raised their family of two daughters. Jack preceded Sylvia in death in 2016.
Mrs. Laack was the Grebe's Bakery Manager when the bakery was located in Paulus Supermarket. Sylvia was a voracious reader and enjoyed doing word search puzzles. She loved family life and looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In years past, she looked forward to car trips with her husband – especially up north to Vilas County – and more extensive travel trips to locations such as Las Vegas. Every year, Sylvia looked forward to celebrating Christmas… the tree was often put up early so she had plenty of time to enjoy it while listening to Christmas music.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Jacki VanKammen of Saukville and Jeri (Gary) Matter of Chilton, four grandchildren: Ben (Katie) VanKammen, Lesley (Matt) Wunrow, Ali (TJ) Samson, and Krysta (Brandon) Poehlein, eight great-grandchildren: Kali (special friend Kyle), Leigha, Hunter, Addie, Chase, Robin, Kyler, and Kaiden. Sylvia is further survived by sister Lois (Don) Porter, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Mrs. Laack is preceded in death by her husband Jack, brother Lester "Sonny" Paegelow Jr., and sisters Peggy Wagner and Anne Paegelow.
Funeral Services will be held at 4PM on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, N60W6047 Columbia Road., Cedarburg. Pastor Erin Coutts will preside. The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday, November 22nd, from 3-4PM. Sylvia will be laid to rest beside her husband the following day at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.
The Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements; online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
