Sylvia E. Bley, age 95, passed away at Lasata Care Center on October 26, 2016. She was born on May 28, 1921 to Fredrick and Lena (nee Hahn) Philipps. On May 10, 1947 Sylvia was united in marriage to Robert A. Bley at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. Sylvia and her husband Robert were the owners for over 30 years of Bley's Recreation in Port Washington. Sylvia was a fantastic cook and accomplished seamstress. She was active with the American Legion Auxiliary Post 82, VFW Post 5373 and the Christian Mothers Group. Above all, Sylvia always put her family first. Sylvia is survived by her sons: Robert, Steven, Larry and David (Barb) Bley, Daughter Carol (Eddie) Reichelt, grandchildren Matthew and Amanda Bley and Evan Reichelt along with one great-grandchild on the way. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Bley, brothers Fred (Henrietta) Philipps Sr., Arnold (Rosemary) Philipps and sister Elizabeth (Arthur W.) Haack. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Avenue, Port Washington at 5:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until the time of service at 5:00 PM. Sylvia along with her husband Robert will be entombed at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the National MS Society www.nationalmssociety.org. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Lasata Care Center and Dr. Beatrice Hoolboom for all the care and compassion they provided Sylvia throughout the years.
