Susan S. Zembrzuski, 97, of Port Washington, was escorted into eternal life by her angel on Monday, April 6, 2026. She was born on May 15th, 1928, in the Town of Oak Creek, WI, to the late Joseph and Susanna (Hruso) Hosmanek.
Susan grew up in Carollville (now part of Oak Creek). She attended Otjen Grade School. Susan was a graduate of South Milwaukee High School. She went on to attend Teachers College. Susan married Thaddeus (Ted) Zembrzuski on October 1st, 1949, at St. John Catholic Church in South Milwaukee. They were married for 66 years, until Ted’s passing in 2015. Over the years, Susan taught from preschool to high school. Excelling in both math and memory. Susan utilized her skills as bookkeeper for Zignego Contractors and Eder Flag Mfg., Oak Creek.
Throughout her life, Susan displayed her artistic and creative talents in various ways. She was an avid knitter, having won numerous awards for her excellence. She produced hundreds of baby caps, which she proudly contributed to various charities. In everything she created, Susan strove for perfection, which could be seen in her fine sewing of First Communion dresses, baptismal outfits, and wedding dresses. Whether it was baking,
sewing, knitting or painting, Susan demonstrated notable talent, creativity and craftsmanship. She never forgot her Slovak roots. “Dobru noc”, dear Mom, “Dobre ‘spi”.
Susan is survived by 5 daughters, Ellen (Ron) Reister, Margaret (Dan) Riess, Elaine (Steve) Becker, Joan (Mark) Glander, and Catherine (Burt) Babcock, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren in whom she was very proud and delighted.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ted, parents Joseph and Susanna Hosmanek, brothers Joseph Hosmanek and John Hosmanek, and sister Ann Hosmanek Narloch.
The family would like to extend our special thanks to the very kind and caring staff at Harbor Community, Port Washington, who have so compassionately supported our mom through her years in assisted living, memory care and hospice.
Visitation will take place at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church Site (451 Johnson Street Port Washington, WI 53074), on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10AM to 11AM, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow starting at 11AM. Private interment to be held at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Cudahy, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Xaverian Missionaries, 4500 W. Xavier Dr. Franklin, WI.
