IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susan M.
D'Amato
July 21, 1946 – March 23, 2024
Sue D'Amato of Grafton passed away Saturday morning, March 23, 2024 at 77 years old.
Susan was born in Milwaukee on July 21, 1946 to Peter and Mavis (nee Temple) Muccio. She attended local schools and graduated from Riverside High School before continuing her education at UW-Milwaukee.
On November 16, 1968, Sue was united in marriage with Daniel D'Amato at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple built a house in Grafton in 1971 and raised their sons there.
Mrs. D'Amato began her career as a bank teller at Cedarburg State Bank and remained with the company through several ownership and name changes – First Wisconsin, First Star, and US Bank – until her retirement in 2013.
Sue enjoyed traveling with her husband, particularly road trips to Nashville at Christmas time. As a couple, they tackled many DIY home improvement projects and Sue embraced the process of decorating their house. She loved spending time in her garden and tending to her flowers. However, her greatest joy was being "Nana" to her five grandchildren. She will be warmly remembered as a kind, loving, and giving mother/mother-in-law/grandmother who sent greeting cards for every holiday and was always willing to lend a helping hand or whip up a batch of her famous Pretzel Dip.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Daniel of Grafton, their sons David (Jill) D'Amato of New Berlin and Steven (Kim) D'Amato of Menomonee Falls, and her cherished grandchildren: Mia, Cami, Sophia, Sarah, and Roman. Sue is further survived by her twin sister Paula (Larry) Majkowski of Brown Deer, sister Marilyn (Richard) Zanowski of Grafton, brother Peter Muccio of Milwaukee, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Sue is preceded in death by her parents and her special grand-pup, Spanky.
Funeral Services will be held at 7PM on Thursday, April 4th at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington St. in Cedarburg. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Thursday, April 4 from 4PM until services begin at 7PM. Sue will be laid to rest the following day at Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family would like to extend its deep appreciation to the caregivers at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, including the Wound Care Team, Newcastle Place in Mequon, and Glendale Care and Rehabilitation in Glendale for the incredible care and compassion they provided to Sue.
The Eernisse Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
