Obituary

Stu Scherf of the Town of Saukville passed away early Sunday morning, October 29, 2023, at The Kathy Hospice in West Bend. He was 89 years old.

Stewart and his twin sister were born in Cedarburg on January 9, 1934, to Arnold and Anna (nee Wendtlandt) Scherf. He attended local schools and graduated from Cedarburg High School, Class of 1953. While in high school Stu was an accomplished athlete, lettering all four years in Baseball, Football and Basketball. He was also inducted into the Cedarburg High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011. Following his schooling, Stu served in the US Army and served in the States before heading to Germany, where he drove truck over the high mountain passes.

On January 17, 1959, Stu was united in marriage with Louise Ballbach at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Saukville. The couple lived in Grafton and Cedarburg before moving into the home they built in the Town of Saukville in 1966, where they raised their family of four children.

Mr. Scherf drove a fuel delivery truck for Tri-Par for 32 years. In his younger days he drove truck for Wetzler delivering Blatz Beer, and dog food for Fromm Foods. After he retired from Tri-Par he drove for Greatwide delivering Charter Steel coils, and produce for Lakeside Foods. He joked that he "retired for the third and final time" on his 81st birthday.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife Louise, their children Stewart (the late Richard Harvey) Scherf of Sacramento, CA, Kerry Scherf of Random Lake, Connie (Gary) Murphy of Fredonia and Steve Scherf of Saukville. Stu is further survived by three grandchildren: Brook & Jesse (Anna) Scherf-Hetchler, and Kyle (Ashley) Murphy, great-grandchildren Tristen and Oliver (and one on the way!), twin sister Vivian "Mutz" (the late Arnold) Scherf-Laabs, nieces, nephews, children-of-the-heart including Christin and Harold "Kevin", other family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Samantha Whitehead, brother Chester (the late Gloria) Scherf, sister Eunice (the late Robert) Goeppert and nephews Chester Scherf, Jr., Robert Goeppert, Jr., and niece Linda Guslick (nee Goeppert).

The family will receive guests at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg, on Friday, November 10th, from 4-6PM, followed by Military Honors.
