Shirley Ann Wetzel (nee Hilgendorf) found peace with the Lord on Monday, November 5, 2018. She was 83 years old. Shirley was born in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin on October 24, 1935 to Clances and Esther (nee Chrisien) Lambrecht. Shirley was united in marriage to William Paul Hilgendorf in 1955 and after his passing married Ray M. Wetzel in 1996. Shirley and her husband Ray previously lived in Germantown before relocating to Arizona for ten years. Shirley and Ray returned to the area recently to be close to family. She loved to host parties and entertain both family and friends. Shirley enjoyed attending Alte Kameraden concerts and was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Freistadt. She also enjoyed many years attending Women's Week at UW Madison with her close friends. Shirley and Ray traveled to many parts of the country over the years. Above all, in everything Shirley did she loved to laugh and be surrounded by the company of her family. Shirley's vivacious smile will be deeply missed. Shirley is survived by her husband Ray, children Susan Mae (James) Gettelman, William Arthur (Janice) Hilgendorf, Sherri Eileen (David) Hauner, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sister Phyllis (Edward) Brook, brother George (Pat) Lambrecht and sister-in-law Eileen (Robert) Koopmann. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. Shirley is preceded in death by her first husband William Paul Hilgendorf. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Freistadt (10729 West Freistadt Road Mequon, Wisconsin 53097). The family will receive visitors from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church of Freistadt are appreciated.
