Obituary

Shirley Ann Warber

Known for her kindness, warmth, welcoming manner, and steadfast faith, longtime Thiensville resident, Shirley Warber, went home to her Savior on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the age of 88.

Shirley was born in Milwaukee on July 7, 1936, the daughter of Adolph and Lydia (nee Schmunk) Schoening. After graduating from North Division, she married her high school sweetheart Robert "Bob" Warber on June 26, 1954. The devoted couple, with their three daughters, moved to Thiensville in 1966. Together they became active in all aspects of life in their new community where their involvement was notable…..Grace Lutheran Church, Thiensville Volunteer Fire Department and local politics. Her beloved husband of 44 years passed away in 1998 at the age of 64.

Shirley will be remembered for many things, but mostly for her kindness, positivity, and love of life. Her life centered around her family; three daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, sharing cookouts, holiday gatherings, birthdays, and attending the many activities of her grandkids. She was a dedicated member of her church where she served as an usher, communion assistant and helped with many activities. Shirley also loved the warm outdoors, enjoying her garden flowers and family vacations up north. She gave and got many hours of laughter and friendship with her Red Hat ladies. Always a classy and sometimes a sassy lady, she always found time to share a smile or conversation with all she encountered.

Cherished and admired mom of Vicki (Dennis) Helms, Cindy (John) Stauske, and Sandy (Mark) Williams; beloved grandma of Scott (Kristen) Helms, Sarah (Randall) Radiske, Steven and Timothy Helms, Samantha (Kevin) McCarthy, Bobby (Lauren) Kaslick and Max Kaslick, John and Katie Williams; adored great-grandma "gigi" of Brady and Brock Helms, Hudson Radiske, Easton and Camden Helms, Mason and Harper Helms, Gavin and Delaney McCarthy; sister Pam (David) Blaho and sister-in-law Rose Schoening, along with many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service for Shirley will be on Saturday, October 26 at Grace Lutheran Church, 303 Green Bay Rd in Thiensville. Pastor Bill Beyer officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday at the church from 9:30am – 10:45am, with the service to follow at 11:00am. Private family entombment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church or Ozaukee Family Services are appreciated.

The family wishes to thank and praise the kind staff at Lawlis Hospice for their compassionate, loving care and dignity given to Shirley in her final days of life.
