SHIRLEY M. KAVANAGH Mrs. Shirley Kavanagh 59 of Sauk Trail Road in the Town of Belgium passed away at her residence on the evening of Friday December 30 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer. Shirley was born in Milwaukee on September 21 1952 daughter of Robert and Dorothy Kussrow (Tegt). After high school Shirley went on to receive her bachelor's degree in nursing from UW Oshkosh. On October 16 1976 she was united in marriage with her high school sweetheart Michael J. Kavanagh at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Milwaukee. In 1977 the couple moved to the Belgium area to raise their family. Mrs. Kavanagh was Director of Nursing at Mequon Care Center and most recently Director of Nursing at Willowdale Nursing and Rehabilitation in New Holstein as the Director of Nursing. She and her husband were members of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. While her children were growing up Shirley was a Girl Scout leader and an assistant softball coach. She loved spending time with her family and friends when she wasn't working gardening reading or shopping. Shirley is survived by her husband Mike of the Town of Belgium their three children: Molly Kavanagh also of the Town of Belgium Micaela (Carl) Smith of the Town of Wilson and Sean Kavanagh of Ashland. She is further survived by a soon-to-arrive grandson (Henry) her mother Dorothy Kussrow of Grafton sister Susan (Neil) Zimmerman of Prairie du Sac brothers-and sisters-in-law aunts uncles cousins nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. A Celebration of Shirley's life will be held at Memories on Hwy LL between Port Washington and Belgium on Saturday January 14th. There will be a short memorial at 4:00pm open to all followed by fellowship live music and the party Shirley wanted until 9:00pm.
