Shirley Greiveldinger of Port Washington passed away at her home on Mon., April 21, 2025. She was 93 years old.
Born Dec. 12, 1931, on the third floor of the Mayer Hotel (later the Port Hotel) to Emil Peter "Pete" Poull and Frances Mayer Poull, the then-owners of the hotel.
On June 23, 1962, Shirley married Joseph Greiveldinger at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Port Washington. They lived in Port their entire married lives.
Mrs. Greiveldinger earned her undergraduate degree in teaching from Mount Mary College, Milwaukee. She taught for one year in the Los Angeles School District, CA, and was later a teacher at Henry Clay Middle School in Whitefish Bay before becoming a substitute teacher in the Port Washington-Saukville School District. She was a faithful member of St. Peter's Church in Port and prayed the rosary daily.
Survivors include children Robert Greiveldinger of Port Washington, and Anne (Andrew) Vauk of Round Lake, IL., grandchildren Conner, Jocelyn, and Alexis Vauk, other family and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2010, their son Joseph G. Greiveldinger in 2023, and her sisters LuCele (the late Marv) Sabel, and Phyllis (the late Ralph) Swatek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12 Noon, Sat., May 3 at St. John XXIII Parish – St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington, Father Patrick Wendt presiding. A Rosary service will take place at 10AM, followed by visitation from 10:30AM - 12 Noon. Interment will take place Sat. at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Washington.
