Shirley (nee Foster) Gantner of Fredonia, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017. She was born on April 13, 1940 to Melvin and Helen (nee Schueller) Foster in Port Washington, Wisconsin. She grew up in Fredonia attending Rosemary School and graduating from Port Washington High School. On June 10, 1961 she was united in marriage to Virgil Gantner at St. Rose of Lima Parish in Fredonia. The couple settled in the Town of Fredonia and started their family. Shirley worked as a receptionist at various businesses and in the health care industry. Shirley enjoyed bird-watching, reading, knitting, and crafting. She also loved animals, especially dogs, and traveling. She is survived by her daughter Kim (Nick Busch) Gantner of Longview, WA, and grandchildren Shana and Cole Busch, also of Longview, WA. She is also survived by her brother Tom Foster of Fredonia, sister Diane (David) Peiffer of Port Washington, brother-in-law Vernon Gantner of Random Lake, sister-in-law Valerie Gantner of Random Lake, nieces and nephews Sherry (Chris) Krueger, Scott (Danielle) Peiffer, Stacy (Troy) Schiesl, Craig (Anna) Gantner, Chris (Lisa) Gantner, Cathy (Craig) Overmeyer, Ron Gantner and special friends Jean Wildhagen and Sharon Casper. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Virgil Gantner, son Mark, parents, parents-in-law Leo (Genevieve nee Wellenstein) Gantner, brothers-in-law Kenneth, Ambrose (Jeanette) and Donald Gantner. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Divine Savior Parish – Holy Cross Chapel (5332 Hwy B, Town of Belgium) at 11:30 AM. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM. Father Todd Budde will preside. Shirley will be laid to rest next to her husband Virgil at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery following the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Ozaukee County Humane Society or the Northern Ozaukee Scholarship Fund.
