Mrs. Shirley Coomer, of Cigrand Drive in Waubeka, passed away Sunday evening, February 28, 2016 at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon. She was 83 years old. Shirley was born in Milwaukee on February 4, 1933, daughter of Herman and Gladys Jochen Trettin. She grew up in Milwaukee and attended local schools. On June 24, 1954 she was united in marriage with Roy Coomer. The couple started their family in Milwaukee, and moved to Waubeka in 1969. Roy preceded her in death in 2005.
Shirley enjoyed sewing, watching NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers and spending time at the family cabin in Mountain. She also enjoyed relaxing in her pool at home and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Coomer is survived by eight sons: David of Waubeka, James of Milwaukee, Michael (Mary Chrapla) of Grafton, Ronald "Spud" (Tammy) of Oostburg, John (Dawn) of New Berlin, Jeff of Waubeka, Richard (Mary) of Cedarburg and Mark of Random Lake. She is further survived by 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren (with two more due to arrive soon), sister Patti (Albert) Mesa of West Bend, brothers Russell (Marie) Trettin of Appleton and Keith (Colette) Trettin of Caledonia, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Roy, daughter Linda Coomer Wesela, son Thomas Coomer and sister Audrey Rickert.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 6th at 3PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., in Cedarburg. The family will receive visitors on Sunday at the Funeral Home from 2-3PM. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
