Mrs. Shirley A. Lohuis long-time resident of Fredonia passed away Monday July 11 2011 at Horizon Inpatient Hospice in Mequon after a brief illness. Shirley was born February 9 1927 in Milwaukee the daughter of Howard and Emma Gertie Longeuay Cooper. She graduated from Riverside High School and studied art at Ripon College. On August 17 1946 she was united in marriage with Donald Lohuis in Franklin IN. He preceded her in death in 2004. Shirley was a member of the American Legion Post #412 Lady's Auxillary and the VFW Post #5373 Lady's Auxillary. She enjoyed dining with fellow members of the local Mac group traveling art cooking sewing and playing bridge. Shirley is survived by her children Michael (Sharon) Lohuis of Green Bay and Teresa Terri (Robert) Kuckuck of Fredericksburg VA and 5 grandchildren: Matthew and Megan Lohuis Daniel Elena and David Kuckuck. She is further survived by her sisters Joan Cooper and Jeanette Cooper both of Mequon sister-in-law Reginia (Merlin) Rusch of Sheboygan brothers-in-law Machiel Vink of Menomonee Falls Norbert (Esther) Lohuis of Sheboygan Falls and Earl (Janice) Lohuis of Sheboygan nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald sister Alice Vink brothers Roderick and Harold Cooper and infant siblings Georgina and Richard Cooper. Funeral Services will be held at 6PM on Friday July 15 2011 at Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington. Shirley's grandson Daniel Kuckuck will conduct services. She will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Cedar Grove. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 4-6PM.
