Obituary

Sharry Lee Laven, 63, of Port Washington, passed away on December 21, 2017. Sharry was born in Milwaukee to Hollis and Shirley Puza on January 18, 1954. She spent her youth growing up in Wauwatosa surrounded by a large family. Sharry moved up to Port Washington in 1974 to be with her soon-to-be husband, Michael Laven. Michael and Sharry were married in 1976 and gave birth to their only child, Kevin, in 1980. Sharry spent almost 30 years working for local manufactures Bolens and Simplicity specializing in assembly work. She grew to love the pace of life in Port Washington and enjoyed dining out, long walks throughout town, and summers on the beach with her dog Roxie. Sharry also had a passion for travel and music. Sharry and Michael began traveling the country early in their relationship with their VW Camper Van and motorcycles. After Kevin arrived, they enjoyed family camping trips with friends at nearby state parks, explored tropical climates on cruises, soaked in late summers in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and visited Kevin on his many stops for school and work throughout the country. Sharry also ventured out of town for many 'girl trips' with her sister and cousins, figure skating competitions, and countless balloon rallies across the U.S. Sharry also made it a priority to see her favorite musicians in person tallying up dozens of concerts. Sharry could always be heard at home, in her car, or with her Walkman jamming to her favorite tunes. Everyone who knew Sharry described her as one-of-a-kind, fun-loving, and a loyal friend. She was the spice of life for all that she knew. Her creative spirit was evident in everything she did, from her unique home décor to her fun fashion sense. Sharry was infamously known as "The Card Lady" for her propensity of sending greeting cards for any and all occasions. Sometimes she would spend hundreds of dollars on cards at one time to stock up for all those upcoming occasions in her friends and families lives. Near or far, she loved to make people smile and let them know that she cared about them with her cards. Simply put, life will not be as exciting without Sharry. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Sharry is survived by her husband, Michael Laven; son Kevin (Whitney) Laven and granddaughter Lena Laven of Point Pleasant, NJ; brothers Gary Puza of Jackson, WI; Larry Puza of Jackson, WI and Hollis (Debbie) Puza Jr of Ixonia, WI; sister Sue (Dennis) Czarniak of West Milwaukee, WI; aunt Audrey Hanson of Wauwatosa, WI, her "identical twin" cousin, Jean (Chris) Hanson of Fort Collins, CO; cousin Barb Hanson of Wauwatosa; cousin Sandy (John) Eppers of Oconomowoc, brother-in-law Jeff (Nancy) Laven and nephew Curt Laven of Liberty, MO; sister-in-law Christine Price of Sheboygan, WI; niece (and godchild) Jamie Price of Glendale, WI; nephew Bryan (Kendall) Price of Cedarburg, WI; and special friends Lori (Glenn) Preisler of Port Washington, WI and Susie (Larry) Conway of Random Lake, WI. A private visitation will be held at Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington on Friday, December 29th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wisconsin Humane Society, Ozaukee Campus, at 630 West Dakota Street, Saukville, WI 53080 or www.wihumane.org.
