Scott Townsend, of Cedar Grove, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly in the evening hours of Monday, December 9, 2024, at his residence. He was 62 years old.
Scott was born in Woodstock, IL, on May 17, 1962, the son of Wendell and Judy (nee Freund) Townsend. He grew up in Woodstock and graduated from Woodstock High School with the class of 1980.
On August 19, 1989, Scott married the love of his life, Marcella Young, in Woodstock, Illinois. Their enduring partnership was filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. Together, they created a warm and inviting home in Cedar Grove.
Scott had a remarkable career as a well-respected plant manager in the printing industry, dedicating over 40 years to his profession. He was admired by colleagues and clients alike for his hard work and integrity. Scott was a lifelong and passionate Chicago Bears fan. His loyalty to the team was unmatched. He also had a love for home improvement projects and enjoyed spending his free time on the golf course. Scott was known for his sense of humor and friendly demeanor, despite his imposing stature.
Those left to honor Scott's memory are his wife Marcella, his three children: Perry Townsend, Sarah Townsend and Sabrina Townsend. He is further survived by his granddaughter Rowen, his sister Wendy (Doug) Grounds, his brother Curtis (Patty) Townsend, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Wendell and Judy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 6 PM, at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish – St. Mary's Chapel in Random Lake. Father Don Thimm will preside over the Mass. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday the 20th from 5-6 PM.
