Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Scott Alan Schmidt on November 8, 2024. Born in Tecumseh, Nebraska, on Christmas Day, 1967, Scott brought warmth, laughter, and an amazing sense of humor to everyone who knew him. He spent his early years in Nebraska and Wisconsin. He enlisted in the United States Army when he was 17 years old, serving with dedication and pride. He then pursued his education at the University of Wisconsin–River Falls for college. On June 28, 1997, Scott married the love of his life, Louise Eade in Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska.

Scott was a dedicated Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, standing by them faithfully—even through the tough seasons. He was also a gifted storyteller with a sharp wit, he could make the whole room laugh with his jokes and humor. Scott was happiest outdoors, spending weekends fishing and camping with his family. Known for his adventurous spirit, he never missed a chance to try a new food truck, always eager to share the experience. His life was filled with laughter, warmth, and cherished moments with his loved ones, whether out in nature or enjoying a good meal together.

Above all, Scott was a family man who cherished his loved ones deeply. He is survived by his wife Louise, and his daughters Leigha (Zach) Wehner and Ellie Schmidt. He is further survived by his mother and stepfather Helen and Fred Gernandt, his stepmother Sue Schmidt, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. His presence in their lives will be deeply missed, yet his laughter and love will live on in their hearts forever.

He is preceded in death by his father Ralph, his brother Steve and his sister Susie Schmidt.

A visitation in honor of Scott's life will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 4-6 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington, followed by a funeral service at 6 PM. All who knew and loved him are welcome to join us in remembering his remarkable life.
