Obituary

Mr. Scott R. Nichols went to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 30 2013 at his Fredonia home surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 60 years old. Scott was born July 4 1953 in Milwaukee the son of Donald and Lila Davidson Nichols. Scott proudly served his country in the United States Army. On August 18 1979 he was united in marriage with Nancy Lange in Pine City MN. Scott's life was characterized by his service to others. In 1986 Scott and his family traveled to Papua New Guinea as missionaries to the Loko people and served there for 13 years. During that time he learned the indigenous language was involved with literacy programs and provided medical care for the people. His teaching discipleship and outreach ministries were instrumental in the establishment of five local churches. After returning to the US in 1999 Scott ministered at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission until June of 2013. At the Milwaukee Rescue Mission Scott used his voice to connect with people as a Pastor teacher counselor and friend. Scott was a member of Elmbrook Church in Brookfield. He enjoyed traveling music cycling cooking woodworking and computers. Scott is survived by his wife Nancy and their children: Nathan of Waukesha Stacy (Michael) Creech of MO and Steven (Laura) of Appleton. He is further survived by his 7 grandchildren: Kelsey Dylan Riley and Brynn Creech and Edwin Charlie and Audrey Nichols siblings: Carol (Tom) McCabe of CA Tom (Chris) Nichols of Brookfield Dana (Tom) Witter of Wauwatosa and Nanci (Tim) Dillon of West Allis uncle Robert (Chin) Davidson of MO nieces nephews other relatives and friends. The family would like to express their great appreciation to Horizon Home Care and Hospice for their care and support. In particular they will always remember the compassionate care provided by nurses Linda and Kim. A Memorial Service will be held at 3PM on Saturday November 2 2013 at Elmbrook Church 777 S. Barker Rd Brookfield. He will be laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetery Union Grove. The family will receive visitors at the church chapel on Saturday from 2-3PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission or New Tribes Mission. The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is honored to be serving the family.
