Mrs. Sarah Fortino of N. Wisconsin St. in Port Washington formerly of Milwaukee passed away late Tuesday December 28 2010 at St. Lukersquo;s Medical Center in Milwaukee. She was 86 years old. Sarah was born March 8 1924 in Milwaukee the daughter of John LaVora and Rose Balistreri. On August 24 1942 she was united in marriage with Joseph Fortino. He preceded her in death in 1978. Sarah was a member of St. Maryrsquo;s Catholic Church in Port Washington. She enjoyed crocheting trips to the casino with family and friends watching TV game shows and most importantly spending time with her family. She is survived by four children: Lucy (Lee) Murrenus of Slinger Jean Roos John (Linda) Fortino and Joe (Wendy) Fortino all of Port Washington. She is further survived by 15 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren 4 great-great-grandchildren one sister Mary (Walter) Peil of Watertown sisters-in-law Rosalie LaVora of Mauston Gertrude LaVora of New Berlin and Theresa (Sam) Ricco of Milwaukee nieces nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph son Phillip Fortino grandson Anthony Fortino brothers and brothers and sisters-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday January 3 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1619 Washington St. in Grafton with Father Mike Barrett officiating. Sarah will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested. The family will receive visitors at Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington on Sunday January 2 2011 from 4-7PM.
