Lopez
January 27, 1944 – October 28, 2023
Sarah Lopez, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 28, 2023, at the age of 79. Born in Mexico on January 27, 1944, to the late Rodolfo and Rafaela (Chisum) Gomez. Her family relocated from Mexico to Texas when Sarah was a young girl. She lived in Texas until the early 1960's when she moved to Wisconsin. On December 19, 1963, she was united in marriage to Joe Lopez at St. Nicholas Church in Dacada, WI. They spent over 35 years together; he preceded her in death in 2000.
Sarah experienced many joys in her life, but nothing brought her more happiness than spending quality time with her loved ones. She cherished every moment creating special experiences with her daughter Norma (John) Neahous; her sons, Joseph (Maria) and William Lopez; her four grandchildren, Andrea, Amanda and Tanner Neahous, and Evan Lopez; and her great grandson, Samson Lewis. From making up movies and puppet shows to embarking on memorable adventures, Sarah's love and nurturing spirit created bonds that will forever be cherished.
Sarah had a zest for life and found pleasure in the simplest of things. Whether it was playing slots at the casino alongside her beloved mother or traveling with her cousin Irma, every moment was filled with laughter and joy. A lover of authentic Mexican cooking, Sarah's culinary talents delighted family and friends alike.
As a devoted fan of college and professional football, Sarah never missed watching the Texas games. She eagerly cheered on her favorite teams, bringing a contagious energy to every game day gathering. In her downtime, Sarah indulged in her "old lady shows," including Judge Judy and Wheel of Fortune, finding comfort and amusement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, her siblings Mary Chisum-Cardona, David, and Ludi Chisum.
