Obituary

Sarah Grisar, beloved wife, mother, sister, and daughter, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She was 47 years old.

Sarah was born in Milwaukee on February 18, 1977, the daughter of Paul and Mary (nee Widmann) Wester. She grew up in Port Washington and attended Port Washington High School where she played softball, basketball, and volleyball. It was in high school that Sarah found her passion for athletics. She graduated with the class of 1995. After high school, she graduated from Moraine Park with an associate degree in registered nursing.

On January 8, 2000, Sarah married the love of her life, Thomas Grisar, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. Together, they raised a beautiful family in Grafton, sharing cherished memories and experiences.

Sarah dedicated her career to caring for others as a postpartum registered nurse at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee for over 20 years. She touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.

Sarah found joy in the simple moments of life - being a devoted mother to her three children, running in multiple marathons and half marathons, taking her dog for walks, watching basketball, watching her daughters play sports, playing games, and tending to her household. Her love and commitment to her family and friends was evident in all that she did.

Sarah is survived by her husband Tom, her three beloved daughters: Ellie, Emily and Abbey, her mother Mary Wester, her sister Kate (Jason Grubb) Wester, and her brother Mike Wester. She is further survived by her in-laws David and Bunnie Grisar, brothers-in-law: David (Laura) Grisar, Mike (Emlynn) Grisar and Rob (Nicole) Grisar, nieces and nephews: Oliver, Anna, Tyler, Brett, Erin, C.J., Bradey, Austin, and Ethan, other relatives and many, many friends.

She is preceded in death by her father Paul Wester.

Visitation for Sarah will take place at St. Joseph Parish, 1619 Washington Ave., Grafton on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 3-5:30 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation on Monday the 20th at 6 PM. Father Nick Baumgardner will preside over the Mass.

She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Parish Cemetery in Port Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to help with her daughters' education.

The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is honored to serve the Grisar family. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com
