Sandra Sue Navarre (nee Andrus) age 71, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Auburndale, Florida. She was born in El Dorado, Kansas August 27, 1945 to Roy Justus and Mildred Colleen Andrus. Beloved wife of Roger Lee Navarre for almost 49 years. She was raised in Kansas and spent most of her adult life in Wisconsin. She and Roger moved permanently to Florida in 2015.
Sandy lived a full life characterized by her devotion to her family and friends, always looking for ways to help others. She consistently volunteered for school activities and was a respected leader in the Girl Scouts. She loved to teach her children new skills and life lessons. A skilled seamstress, she often volunteered to make or mend clothes for her family and friends.
It was her love of horses that dominated her life after Roger retired in 2003. She started with a quarter horse and later added three miniature horses and a Shetland pony. As with all her ventures, Sandy dove in with both feet, attending horse shows throughout mid America, taking an active role in several horse organizations. She worked countless hours training and grooming her horses which resulted in a room full of ribbons and trophies, including several national championships. She was well known on the "horse circuit" because of her willingness to volunteer her time and talent to help others. She was especially interested in horse genetics and loved to share her ideas about breeding strategies. And, of course, she loved to share her horses and horse experiences with her children and grandchildren.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Romona Jean Ventress.
She is survived by her husband; her children Cassandra Kay Navarre and Paul James (Heather) Navarre; her grandchildren Dawson James Navarre, Vaughn Nicholas Navarre and Josephine Scout Navarre; her siblings Mildred Edith Thomas, Glenn Roy (Mary) Andrus, and Carol Colleen (Rick) Hull; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
