Obituary

Ruth "Rudy" Shully (nee Bachmann), 91, died peacefully on July 11, in the comfort of family. Rudy epitomized the warmth, friendliness and good cheer of Gemuchlichkeit and her proud German and Milwaukee heritage. Coming from a large family of 11 brothers and sisters Rudy was frequently the initiator, the organizer and eventually evolved into the guiding force for her own and an extended family of relatives, friends and new acquaintances. Whether it be family finances, school and social activities, golf leagues, aquasize groups, vacations, group outings etc., she was always planning, always active, and always had the best interests of any who wanted to be included. Rudy and firefighter husband Kenny (or Walt, at the firehouse) raised a family of 4 kids, in the most loving and nurturing home imaginable. They made an ideal team and instilled strong ethics of work, fun, humility and acceptance. Every visitor was welcomed, adventure and initiative was encouraged, screw ups had consequences, but there was always the overriding encouragement, positive reinforcement and love they never waivered on. They made growing up in Milwaukee seem like nirvana. Rudy is survived by son's Craig (the late Susan), Scott (Beth), and daughter Mary (Craig) Kilpatrick. Preceded in death by her husband, and son, Mark. Also survived by grandchildren Sadie Millonzi, Gwen (Eric) Torstenson, Kelsi (Will) Knight, Spencer, (Fiancé Magen LaPoint), Nina (John) Darling, Jacob (Alexandria), and Hadley, and great grandchildren Brody, Cooper, Olivia, Logan and Victory. Rudy also had many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and a broad range of friends.
