Obituary

Ruth A. Kirsch, of Port Washington, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon. She was 82 years old. Ruth was born March 21, 1933 in Port Washington, the daughter of John and Clara (nee Nieman) Vixmer. After high school, she worked at The Mayer Hotel (currently Port Hotel) as an assistant chef. On February 15, 1958, she was united in marriage with James Kirsch at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The couple settled in town and started their family. James preceded Ruth in death on September 17th, 2015. Ruth was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington, where she had been involved with the Christian Mothers. She was an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers (Brett Favre was one of her favorites), and enjoyed cooking, playing cards, Yahtzee, casino trips, and long walks with her husband at Harrington Beach and the Lion's Den. Ruth loved the holidays, and liked cooking for everyone when they gathered to celebrate. Her family will certainly miss her Christmas cookies and chocolate éclairs. Ruth is survived by her children: Barbara (Jeff) Dulong of Saukville, James Kirsch (Myleen Ziebell) of Port Washington, Paul (Pam) Kirsch of Hartford, CT, Thomas Kirsch of Oshkosh and John (Dee Dee) Kirsch of Wautoma. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, siblings: John (Arleen) Vixmer of Fond du Lac, Dorothy (the late Olaf) Nielsen of Port Washington, Rosie (John) DuBois of Grafton and Carol Peterson, also of Port Washington, sister-in-law Betty Haseley of Paw Paw, MI, brothers-in-law William (Judy) Kirsch of Port Washington and Dr. Robert (Ardys) Kirsch of Las Vegas, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband James, 1 grandson, Jacob Kirsch, parents John and Clara Vixmer, parents-in-law Nicholas and Eleanor Kirsch, brother Clarence Vixmer, sisters Gladys (the late Harry) Riesch and Eleanor (the late Donald) Lauters, and brothers-in-law Alvin & Richard Kirsch. A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, October 17th at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 noon until services at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
