Ruth D. Schwendener Ruth D. Schwendener age 85 years of 963 W. Whitefish Rd. formerly of Elmhurst IL passed away January 2 2003 at her residence after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Milwaukee on December 17 1917 daughter of the late Julius and Martha Seliger Theilacker. In 1940 she graduated from Downer College in Milwaukee. On May 17 1941 she married David Dunning at Galena Methodist Church in Milwaukee. David preceded her in death in 1975. In 1987 she married Paul Schwendener in La Grange IL. He preceded her in death in 1992. Ruth was known for her art. She enjoyed teaching selling and showing her art. She also was the owner and operator for a period of time of a maternity shop. She was a member of the Chicago Yacht Club the Executive Breakfast Club and the Goldbrick Investment Club. She was very active in Christ Church of Oakbrook IL serving as a Deaconess within the church from 1993-1998. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles bible study playing bridge and sketching and painting. She is survived by 3 children Susan Atwell of Seattle WA David (Sharon) Dunning of Wayne IL and Martha (Richard) DeMario of Port Washington 7 grandchildren 3 great-grandchildren 1 brother Fred (June) Theilacker of Brookfield and Grace (Fran) Millen of Bayside nieces nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her two husbands and one grandson John. A private visitation and service was held at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington. A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place Thursday January 9 2002 1PM in the Garden Chapel at Christ Church in Oakbrook IL.
