IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roy C.
Oberheu
September 5, 1934 – August 30, 2025
Roy Oberheu, of West Bend, formerly of Cedarburg, passed away at home the morning of Saturday, August 30, 2025. He was 90 years old.
Roy was born in Mequon on September 5, 1934, the son of Louis and Lydia (nee Trupp). He resided there until he married the love of his life, Sharon Wolter, on April 22, 1967, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.
He graduated from Cedarburg High School as a member of the Class of 1953, where he proudly set several basketball scoring records. After high school, Roy served in the United States Army for two years. He attended college, where he earned his Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Following the completion of his degree, he worked for Culter Hammer for ten years. Roy changed his career path to become a Real Estate broker until retirement.
Roy, or he was called by his friends, "Ears", had numerous hobbies- he loved to be outdoors fishing, hunting and golfing, as well as spending time with family and friends. To fulfill his love for golf, Roy began a new job at Mee-Kwon Park in 2000, cutting the greens and tee boxes. He always kept himself occupied, and enjoyed making maple syrup in the Spring with a group of friends, collecting 1200 to 1600 gallons of maple sap a season!
Roy was a man of dedication, holding a record for the longest membership in the Thiensville Fire Department, serving the community since 1957. He served as a Supervisor on the Town of Cedarburg Board for 14 years, from 1983 – 1997. Roy was a devoted 45-year member of the Cedarburg Lions Club and found great joy in serving others. He attended 17 eyeglass mission trips across Mexico and Honduras, where he was involved in fitting used eyeglasses for people in need. Roy also served as part of the District Government Cabinet for 14 years.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Sharon, their son Michael (Janel) Oberheu, granddaughter Amanda Oberheu, brother Louis (Rosemary) Oberheu, brother-in-law Jerome (Andrea Scott) Wolter, sisters-in-law Geri (Frank) Wolter and Claudia (Alec) Wolter, along with other nieces, nephews, relatives, and many cherished friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lydia Oberheu, parents-in-law Jess and Dorothy Wolter, and brothers-in-law Frank and Alec Wolter.
Sympathy, love and laughter will acknowledge and celebrate the impact Roy had on all our lives; please share your memories and stories with us. If you would like, there will be an opportunity during the memorial service to share your story.
