Obituary

Roy A. Borchardt was unexpectedly called to eternal life June 24, 2024, age 77, at his home in Cedarburg. Born June 21, 1947, in Milwaukee, WI, to Gerhard and Erna (nee Worm) Borchardt. He attended Milwaukee Lutheran High School and was a proud Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War and was stationed at Cam Ranh Bay.

Roy met Roxanna Byle in 1967, and they were married in Milwaukee on October 16, 1971. They moved to Cedarburg in 1979, to raise their family.

He spent his career in the telecommunications business in Milwaukee, first "picking nickels" from pay phones, then installing phone service in homes, followed by systems design and then sales. He worked hard to support his family.

Always a cowboy at heart, even from childhood, Roy enjoyed learning about Western and Native American cultures, and spent a good amount of time traveling around the US and the world. Roy also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, having conversations about religion and politics, eating meals at Jim's Grille in Cedarburg, reading, following current events, working outside in his yard, having fires in the fire pit, sharing his blessings with family, friends and various charities and savoring his hamburgers and Diet Pepsi.

Roy is survived by fiancée Sally Kohl, daughter Tracy (Graham) Bentz, daughter Dr. Ami Thompson, granddaughters Rachell Turner and Charlotte Bentz. Further Survived by cherished brothers and sisters-in-law, former son-in-law Cameron (Kimberly) Turner, childhood friend Paul (Alicia) Orwal, and other dear relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his aunt Irma (nee Worm) Norman Rutgers, his wife Roxanna Borchardt, his sister Karen Zachek and her husband Lee Zachek.

Private interment will be at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

The Eernisse Funeral Home, Cedarburg, is honored to serve the Borchardt family. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com.
