Obituary

Ron Ziegelbauer of Saukville passed away Wednesday morning, May 17, 2023, at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lomira. He was 71 years old.

Ron was born in Fond du Lac on March 22, 1952, son of Raymond and Florence Schaefer Ziegelbauer. The family moved to Mequon when Ron was young and he attended local schools.

On April 20, 1974, Ron was united in marriage with Janet M. Keul at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. They settled in Saukville and began their family. The couple attended MATC together, and got degrees in business and upholstery. They started Ron and Jan's Upholstery, located in Saukville, in May of 1977. They celebrated their 35th year in business before Jan preceded Ron in death in 2013. Sadly, their son Randy passed away the following year. Ron continued running the shop until he retired in 2018 and moved to Kewaskum to be closer to his remaining family.

Mr. Ziegelbauer was a 20+ year member of the Saukville Fire Department and helped many area fire departments with repairs to their turnout gear over the years. He enjoyed camping and watching baseball with his sons.

Survivors include his son Russell (Wendy) of Kewauskum and loving granddaughters Robin and Rilee. He is also survived by siblings Roger (Sara) Ziegelbauer, Kathy (Glenn) Wille, Betty (Frank) Jimenez, Sue (the late Randy) Richards, Dick (Kathy) Ziegelbauer, Ray (Ingrid) Ziegelbauer, and Bob (Jill) Ziegelbauer, brothers-and-sisters-in-law David (Penny) Keul, Laurie Keul, Peter (Jackie) Keul, Nicole (Steve) Tomkiewicz, and David Held. Ron is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other family, friends and customers. He is preceded in death by his wife Jan, their son Randall "Red" Ziegelbauer, parents Raymond and Florence, sisters Mary Jacobson and Judy Held, and sisters-in-law Susan Smith and Michelle Keul.

A time of gathering to celebrate Ron's life will take place on Thursday, May 25th from 5-7 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home in Cedarburg (1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg).
