Born to Eternal Life on Friday August 13, 2021 at the age of 88. He was born in Milwaukee on May 24,1933 the son of Bernard and Mary (nee Murawski) Reske, the eldest of their 9 children. Ronald graduated from Milwaukee Boys Technical High School in 1952.
Ronald was briefly employed at Miller Climatrol before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He served as a Medic from 1953 to 1955. After being honorably discharged, Ronald was employed at Perfex in Milwaukee for the next 28 years. He then became a security guard at Time Insurance/Fortis Insurance in downtown Milwaukee. In 2001, Ronald got his dream job as an Usher on the Party Suite Level at Miller Park. He enjoyed working for the Milwaukee Brewers for 17 years.
In the 1970s, Ronald coached the 6th Grade Boys Softball at Holy Name, and was Head Coach for 6th Grade Boys Basketball and Softball at St. Ignatius. He coached Boys Basketball at Grant Street School. Ronald coached The St. Alexander Popes 6th Grade Boys Basketball team. He also coached 7th and 8th Grade Boys Basketball at Audubon Junior High School. He coached the Indians in the Cudahy/St. Francis Little League in the mid-1980s.
Ronald was an avid sports fan. He loved the home teams Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers, and was happy to have seen the Milwaukee Bucks take the NBA Title in 2021. His favorite "non-home" team was the Cleveland Indians. In the summer of 1988, Ronald earned an extra's role in "Major League" as one of the Detroit Tigers Coaches. (He was hoping for Cleveland!) At that time, Ronald became a member of the Screen Actors' Guild and voted on the SAG Awards for many years after.
Ronald played softball for a variety of teams over the years. He started his amateur career as team owner/manager of the "Crabs" in 1957 and continued in 1966 with "Oklahoma". In 1970, Oklahoma was the League Champs. Over the years, Ronald played for many teams around Milwaukee including "Beer Belly's" in the 1980s. Ronald retired from softball at the top of his game in 2012 when his team won the Championship Title in the Tuesday Morning 55+ League at Burnham Park in Milwaukee. "Tuesdays with Ronny" – a blog tribute to his softball team -- can be found at http://cmdesigned2inspire.blogspot.com/2013/06/tuesdays-with-ronny.html.
Ronald loved animals of all kinds. He enjoyed visiting his friends' farms where he would deer hunt. He owned horses for a while. Ronald's true passion was raising and racing pigeons. He inherited this passion from his grandfather, and enjoyed teaching the neighborhood kids about the birds when they visited his pigeon coop. His video "Pigeon: A Documentary by Ronald Reske" can be seen on YouTube.
Ronald was generous and giving to everyone. He enjoyed spending time with extended family from his 8 siblings, the late Robert (Susan), Beverly "Fay" (the late Frank) Lyman, Thomas (Joan), Judith (the late Jerome) Michalek, Lawrence (Mary), the late Suzanne Gasser, Sandra Gomez and Wayne. more than 2 dozen nieces and nephews, roughly 3 dozen great-nieces and great-nephews, a half dozen great-great-nieces and great-great nephews, along with other relatives and friends. Ronald will be greatly missed by all. He will be deeply missed by his niece Cheryl Ann.
Ronald's interests in life are too numerous to recount here. One of his life goals was to write his memoires, a book of short stories of his real-life experiences. The book was nearly completed at the time of his passing. It will be published later this year.
