Ronald Eick, age78 years of Port Washington, passed away into the arms of his Savior on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon. He was born September 7, 1938 in Milwaukee, son of the late Henry and Rose (nee Monta) Eick.
Ron grew up in the Tess Corners area (currently Muskego) and attended local schools there. The family attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and he was confirmed on April 6, 1952. Ron was a 1956 graduate of West Milwaukee High School before enlisting in the US Army. He served with the 532 Combat Engineers in Italy from 1957 – 1959. After he left the military, Ron entered the printing industry and became a color camera man at Mandel Co., Eldorado and KZG, belonging to Local M577 of the Printers & Advertising Union. He retired in 1996.
On February 26, 1965, Ron was united in marriage with Jacquelyn "Jackie" Kristopeit at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tess Corners. The couple lived in West Allis before moving to Port Washington in 1971.
Mr. Eick was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Newburg. Ron liked to spend time hunting in the Nicolet National Forest with relatives and his hunting buddy, Frank Oszuscik. He also enjoyed fishing, reading, snowmobiling in Florence County, listening to music from the '50's, watching western movies - especially John Wayne, The History Channel and the Green Bay Packers. Having no children of his own, he loved sharing his knowledge of the woods and being a mentor to younger children.
Survivors include his wife Jackie and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Carl Belling and sister Karen Bischoff.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 18th at St. John's Lutheran Church, 623 Congress St., Newburg. Pastor Kurt Schaser will preside. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Saturday from 10-11AM. Ron will be laid to rest beside his parents in Commonwealth Cemetery, Florence County, at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church, Newburg, or a charity of the donor's choice.
