Obituary

Ronald A. Schommer Ronald Schommer of Fredonia passed away unexpectedly in the morning hours of Monday June 22 2015 at his residence. He was 77 years old. Ron was born in Belgium on August 27 1937 son of Ray Schommer and Loretta Watry Schommer. Ron grew up in the Belgium Fredonia area graduating from Port Washington High School in 1956. After high school Ron served his country in the US Army until he was honorably discharged in 1958. On April 23 1966 he married Mary Kultgen at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Fredonia. Ron worked in shipping at American Can Co. for over 27 years. He also worked for Zettlers Cleaning Service and AJS of Random Lake. Ron was a member of Divine Savior Parish in Fredonia and a 56 year member of the Fredonia Fire Department serving as Assistant Fire Chief for four years. He also enjoyed serving his community as a volunteer at Divine Savior Catholic School and as a former Fredonia Village Board Member. Ron enjoyed being with his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all of their sporting events and 4H events. He loved being silly and playing games with the younger grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Mary working on the farm with his son doing crossword puzzles and helping others in any way he could. He is survived by his wife Mary of Fredonia five children: Brian (Lori) Schommer of Fredonia Julie (Ron) Schuessler of Random Lake Linda (Brian) Weyker of Fredonia Ann (Mark) Unertl of Waupaca and John (Mary) Schommer of Random Lake. He is further survived by 11 grandchildren: Nicole Schommer Andy Fechter Rachel Fechter Cody Schuessler Kori Schuessler Mitchell Weyker Caitlyn Weyker Luke Weyker Adelaide Unertl Antonio Fajardo Chase Schommer and 1 grandchild on the way three siblings Dan (Darlene) Schommer of Fredonia Jean Klas of Fredonia and Rita (George) Kirst of Kewaskum sister-in-law Carol Schommer of Fredonia brothers-in-law Leander (Joanne) Kultgen of Random Lake John (Pam) Kultgen of Byron IL Henry (Judy) Kultgen and Paul (Bev) Kultgen both of Random Lake nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his son Mark Schommer his parents his brother Romie Schommer in-laws Leo and Ann Kultgen and two brothers-in-law Bob Klas and Alfred Kultgen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 25 2015 at 7 PM at Divine Savior Parish - Holy Cross Chapel (corner of Hwy A Hwy B Belgium). He will be laid to rest with military honors in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery Fredonia. Visitation will be held at the CHURCH on Thursday June 25th from 3-6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the Fredonia Fire Department or Divine Savior Catholic School. The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is honored to serve the family.
