nbsp; Roland A. Klas Whitey Mr. Roland Klas of Cedar Grove formerly of the town of Belgium passed away Saturday afternoon April 30 2011 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls surrounded by his family. He was 78 years old. Roland was born January 11 1933 in the town of Belgium son of Harry and Dorothy Schueller Klas. From 1955-1957 he was stationed on Greenland while proudly serving his country in the United States Army. On July 29 1952 he was united in marriage with Lois Peterson at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. The couple raised their family on a hobby farm in the town of Belgium. Lois preceded him in death in 1976. nbsp;On July 21 1978 he was united in marriage with Joan Lund Peterson at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. She preceded him in death in 2000. Whitey worked as a concrete truck driver at Schmitz Ready Mix in Mequon and recently received a 50 year plaque from them. In his later years he drove truck for Maxfield\'s Topsoil in Belgium Appleland in Belgium and the Eischen family of Random Lake. Roland was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes St. Nicholas Chapel in Dacada where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He also belonged to the Belgium American Legion.nbsp; Roland was an avid Packer fan who enjoyed playing sheepshead and working on cars and tractors. Most of all he enjoyed being with family and friends and will be remembered for making everybody laugh. nbsp;Roland is survived by four children James (Pam) Klas of Middleton Linda (John) Griesmer of Mosinee Karen (Eric) Schmitz of West Bend and Dennis (Jody) Klas of Cascade as well as three step-children: Glenn (Julie) Peterson of Oostburg Gerry (Laurie) Peterson of Cedar Grove and Edie Gillian of Woodruff WI. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Alex and Stephanie Heinecke Colin Griesmer Ryan Schieble Matthew and Sarah Klas Amy (Thomas) Straley Richard (Kourtney) Peterson Michelle (David) Deppiesse Heather (Jason) DeRuyter Trevor Peterson Stacey Peterson Nicole Oetzel Kelly (Bryan) Kloos Russell Jacob and Leah Griesmer; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Cynthia \Grace\ Klas of Greenfield Joyce (Charles) O\'Brien of Milwaukee and Mick (Gerald) Luedtke of Theinsville; nbsp;sister-in-law Shirley Klas of Dacada; brother-in-law Gary (Shirley) Bley of Port Washington nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wives Lois and Joan son-in-law Daniel Kruepke brother Daniel Klas and sisters June (the late Lambert) Napierala and Germain Tom Bley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Thursday May 5 at Our Lady of the Lakes nbsp;St. Nicholas Chapel W4274 Hwy K in Dacada. He will be laid to rest beside Lois in the parish cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday May 4 from 4-7PM at Eernisse Funeral Home 171 N. Royal Ave. in Belgium and on Thursday May 5 from 10:30-11AM at Our Lady of the Lakes St. Nicholas Chapel in Dacada. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. The family would like to thank the staff of Cedar Grove Gardens St. Nicholas Hospital and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their loving care of Roland.
