Roger M. Staton, of Port Washington, passed away Saturday morning, June 11, 2016 at Columbia St. Mary's – Ozaukee Campus in Mequon. He was 55 years old. Roger was born December 15, 1960 in Port Washington, the son of Samuel and Lois (nee Kafehl) Staton. On September 15, 2007, he was united in marriage with Margaret Benton in Port Washington. Roger was a proud member of the military, serving in the United States Army after high school, and currently as a SP4 in the United States Army Reserves, 996 Engineer Battalion for the last 10 years. In total, he proudly served his country for 19 years. Roger was also a member of the Landt-Thiel American Legion, Post #470 for the past 25 years, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Saukville. He enjoyed archery, trap shooting, and being with family, friends, and his beloved cat Buddi.
Roger is survived by his wife Margaret Benton of Port Washington and his daughter Brandy (Richard Austin) Staton of West Allis. He is further survived by his grandchildren Thomas James Staton-Austin and Rachel Sarai Staton-Austin, his parent Sam and Lois Staton of Williston, FL, siblings: Pam Ferraino of Cedar Grove, John (Judy) Staton of Cedarburg, Dan (Tami) Staton of Grafton, Bruce Staton of Belgium and Laura (David) Jones of Saukville, father and mother-in-law Leslie and Jeannette Benton of Saukville, brothers and sisters-in-law: Anne Benton, Jerome (Jamie) Benton, David (Carolyn) Benton, Elizabeth Benton, Richard Benton, Diana (Akif) Ansari, Dannielle (Chris) Fisher, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, including grandmother Beatrice Kafehl, and his uncle Donald L. Staton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1PM on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 145 W. Church St. in Saukville. Father Pat Wendt will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 10AM-1PM, with a military walk-thru beginning at 12:15PM. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Union Cemetery in Saukville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a local military or veteran organization.
