Rocco Daniel Dougherty, 35, of West Bend, formerly of Port Washington passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 13, 2019, with his family at his side. He waged a thirteen year battle with brain cancer. Rocco was born in Port Washington to Rocco and Judi (nee Reas) Dougherty on January 12, 1984. He married his loving and devoted wife Rachel Ihwail on May 15, 2016. As a young man Rocco became an Eagle Scout with St. Peter's troop 875 out of Port Washington. After high school, Rocco received an Associate Degree in criminal justice and served on the Port Washington Police Department Reserve for four years. He was an accomplished black belt and martial arts instructor. Rocco was a dedicated employee of Balance, Inc. in Grafton for ten years. Rocco was an avid fan of science fiction and superhero stories. At the top of his list was Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, DC and Marvel comics. He also enjoyed monthly game nights with his family. Rocco is survived by his wife Rachel, his parents Rocco and Judi; brother, Augustus "Gus" (Hailey) Dougherty; sister, Leishiona Dougherty; fur-babies, Annabelle and Oliver. He is further survived by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and a multitude of cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Peter and Aunt Lisa Deutsch. A Funeral Service for Rocco will be held at 6:00PM on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Eernisse Funeral Home (1600 W Grand Ave. Port Washington, WI 53074). Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00PM until the time of service. Family and friends are encouraged to wear Star Trek or superhero themed shirts in memory of Rocco. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are encouraged.
