IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert B. "Bob"
Ross
January 26, 1941 – January 6, 2024
Mr. Bob Ross of Cedarburg passed away Saturday evening, January 6, 2024, at Ascension Columbia-St. Mary's Ozaukee Hospital in Mequon. He was 82 years old.
Robert was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 26, 1941, son of Hugh and Marion (nee Pendleton) Ross. When Bob was a child the family moved to Iowa. Bob graduated from Atlantic Community High School before going on to graduate from Drake University.
On October 5, 1963, Bob was united in marriage with Patricia O'Brien in Melrose, Iowa. The couple lived in Milwaukee before moving to Cedarburg in 1970 to raise their family. Mr. Ross was employed by Wisconsin Electric Company in the Human Resources Department for over 25 years.
In the 70's and 80's, you may have seen Alderman Ross buzzing around town on his, too small for his frame, red and white moped, playing the rockstar MC at the JC's annual Fourth of July celebration at City park or pushing a lawn mower in formation in the Hickory Street July 4th parade . Always a giver, he served on the City Council and Preservation Society, sat on the board of directors for a Milwaukee area homeless shelter and volunteered at the Cedarburg Art Museum. He was quick to laugh or toss off a joke, not always appropriate, and if you had a gathering he might show up with his ukulele whether prompted or not. He was a dabbler, dabbling in water color or wood carving or cartooning or…. the list goes on. Always a collector, he specialized in antique toys, taking great pride in each new carnival chalk figure he brought home. Yes. You read that correctly. But nothing brought him more pride than his five grandchildren: Sydney, Quinn and Owen Goergen and Wynter and Nola Ross, who loved their goofy Grandpa dearly and whom he would brag about incessantly if you were fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to make eye contact with him.
In addition to his grandchildren, those left to cherish his memories include his wife Patricia of Cedarburg, their children Hugh (Anahita Moshfegh) Ross of Los Angels, CA, and Erin Ross-Goergen of Chicago, IL. Bob is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Hugh Ross and sister Margaret "Peggy" Shellman.
Private family services will take place. Bob will be laid to rest in Zur Ruhe Cemetery, Cedarburg.
A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date this upcoming spring.
The Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements; online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
